Mattia Binotto has resigned as Ferrari team principal following the 2022 F1 season.
Ferrari started 2022 off with a bang, claiming a 1-2 in Bahrain and a win in Australia only to soon be overwhelmed by a Red Bull challenge through Max Verstappen.
The team ended the year with just four wins in what initially looked to be a promising season.
Following this, Binotto has given his resignation to Ferrari, and will leave this post on 31 December later this year.
He said:
“With the regret that this entails, I have decided to conclude my collaboration with Ferrari.
“I am leaving a company that I love, which I have been part of for 28 years, with the serenity that comes from the conviction that I have made every effort to achieve the objectives set.
“I think it is right to take this step at this time as hard as this decision has been for me.”
Binotto’s replacement is currently unknown, but Ross Brawn is currently a hotly-tipped contender as he departs his role with F1.
