All to play for in West Country duel

Things really are just too close to call at the top of League Two, with interest likely to be high in all games this weekend, especially down in the West Country.

Bristol Rovers boss Joey Barton will have his side pumped for the derby clash with high flying Forest Green Rovers at the Memorial Stadium, Bristol.

The Pirates are within touching distance of an automatic promotion spot and will be seeking to gain ground on the leaders from just up the road in rural Gloucestershire.

Forest Green need just a point though to clinch promotion. They looked to be out of site at the top of the table a few months back but a spell of brittle form brought them back within reach of the chasing pack.

Their recent form has been more consistent though and they now seem back to their best with three wins from the last five.

The away end is sold out following the Easter Monday victory over Oldham Athletic. Former Nailsworth man Aaron Collins will be going all out to stop Forest Green however. He is top scorer for The Gas with 11 goals this season. The Welshman spent two years at Forest Green and netted 16 goals.

Newcastle United loanee loanee Elliot Anderson will also be key for the home side. He has settled in well at the Memorial Stadium with six goals to his name.

Rob Edwards’ men will become the first team in the world to travel to a sports event in an electric coach on Saturday for what they hope will be a promotion party.

Regan Hendry and Jamille Matt will hope to be amongst the goals again having pushed Oldham Athletic further into danger last time out.

The clash could see the beginning of the end of Forest Green Rovers midfielder Ebou Adams career at Nailsworth ahead of rumoured interest from Cardiff City.

To add further West Country interest, Exeter City also sit nicely in second place and even Swindon Town won’t think themselves out of the race for play offs down in 11th place. We could see some interesting play off battles depending on the the form of these sides in the final weeks of the season.

With 10th placed Newport County also watching closely from just the other side of the Severn Bridge, its proving to be an exciting climax to the League Two season way out West.
