Warrington travel back over to Hull to take on a deflated Hull FC outfit after a disappointing derby defeat.

Warrington are travelling back over to the east side of the country but instead of going to East Hull, they will be diverting to West Hull to take on the Black and Whites who will no doubt be hurt and looking for a fightback after their disappointing performance against their old and dearest rivals, Hull KR.

Brett Hodgson will be taking on his old team for just the second time as head-coach as the fixture last August was postponed for ‘Covid’ in the Hull FC camp, just 24 hours before the two sides were meant to play.

The last time these two teams faced each other it was an intense game that went down to golden point after a Jake Mamo last second break from a tired Hull FC defence back on the 18th April 2021. Funny enough a year later to the day, they play again at the MKM Stadium but with crowds back and a new man in charge of the Warrington side in Daryl Powell, who took over the four-year reign of Steve Price.

Both Warrington and Hull FC are coming into this game with four wins and four losses. However, Hull FC sit just above Daryl Powell’s Warrington outfit just at the bottom end of the play off spots with FC in 5th and Warrington in 6th.

Hull FC come into this game on Monday having lost their last three games in the league and cup to Hull KR, Wigan and with them crashing out of the Challenge Cup by surprise package of the season, Huddersfield Giants, who currently sit in fourth place.

Warrington on the other hand, having won their opening three games against Leeds, Castleford and Toulouse. They have really fell of the ranks having lost their last five games against a weakened Catalan side, St.Helens, Wakefield in the league and cup and Hull KR. They picked up their first victory however, against the Salford Red Devils on Thursday evening in ‘Rivals Round’ as it ended 32-18.

Players to watch:

There is talent everywhere for the black and whites, but you can’t go past Jake ‘the snake’ Connor who is in some amazing form at the minute. Jake has recently picked up the Super League Player of the Month award, ahead of the likes of in-form Jai Field and Tommy Makinson.

The 27-year old has some amazing stats so far this season having only played seven games in Super League. The devastating full-back causes havoc for all opposition defences and keeps them on their toes at all times. Connor, after seven games, has scored seven tries and leads the top assist tally with 12.

However on the Warrington side, you can choose a handful. George Williams, Stefan Ratchford, Gareth Widdop, but the player to look out for is Danny Walker.

Danny has been the stand out performer for this Warrington side, with his pace from dummy-half and his knowledge to cut through defenders being outstanding highlights. The 22-year-old hometown boy is very passionate about representing his town as he signed a new two-year contract earlier this year. Danny has only got the one try to date so far but has made over 200 tackles in the games he has played and chops down everyone in his sight.
