Newport County and Forest Green Rovers face off in a mouthwatering automatic promotion encounter at the Fully Charged New Lawn.

Goals look a certainty as the high-flying duo are the two best-attacking sides in League Two this season with the Welsh club scoring 46 goals while the Rovers have netted 56 times this term.

Leading marksmen in the division go head-to-head as well with County’s Dominic Telford on 20 goals taking on the in-form duo of Matt Stevens and Jamille Matt who have both scored 17 goals.

Many observers were surprised that Telford stayed at Rodney Parade during the transfer window and this may be his great chance to show others what they have missed.

Many eyes will be on Telford but Rovers’ boss Rob Edwards will also be emphasising the strength of the whole County side to his players.

The Exiles’ number 19 has enjoyed a magnificent season so far, but if Rovers do not deal with the other County players, then they may well get punished.

The sides have enjoyed some exciting duels in recent times and Newport will be backed by over travelling 1,200 fans in Gloucestershire.

The travelling Amber Army can be relied upon to create a wonderful, boisterous atmosphere at the Fully Charged New Lawn as third placed County hope to topple the league leaders. The Exiles could probably have sold twice that amount had circumstances allowed them a larger ticket allocation.

County could include veteran striker Kevin Ellison who made a huge impact from the bench with a goal in Gloucestershire last season. The Welsh side were 3-2 down on aggregate in the play-off semi-final defeat when he fired home from long range.

The Exiles eventually triumphed 5-4 at the death thanks to Nicky Maynard’s late ‘winner’ in a 4-3 defeat on the night, which led to their Wembley heartache against Morecambe.

On loan defender Josh Pask could also return to the centre of defence for James Rowberry’s men.

Forest Green earned a tough point up at Port Vale last time out while confidence will also be very high amongst their visitors from across the River Severn on the back of four consecutive wins. Ebou Adams could return for the home side with Nicky Cadden also hopeful of making the game.

With the prospect of crossing swords next season with the likes of Portsmouth, Sheffield Wednesday and even Derby County to spur them on, we can be assured of a thrilling clash in the Gloucestershire countryside.
