FC United of Manchester will look to defy the odds as they take on Bamber Bridge in the Northern Premier League Premier Division.

The visitors have made a very impressive start to the season, gaining 17 points from a possible 24 in their first eight games of the season.

Brig have only suffered one defeat so far this season which came on the opening day of the campaign as they lost 3-0 away at Buxton. Since then, they have been one of the most impressive sides in the division, with two Blackpool loanees being in fine form as of late.

Both on loan from the Seasiders, Rob Apter and Ewan Bange have shone for Bamber this season, the latter having scored eight goals as he thrives during his current loan spell.

As for FC United, they will be hoping to get back to winning after a fairly poor start to the campaign. FC have lacked any real consistency so far this season and will be looking to get one over Brig as there are a few familiar faces set to go head-to-head.

The manager of FC United, Neil Reynolds, previously managed at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium between 2016 and 2018 before moving to Broadhurst Park. This summer, he was followed by one of his former players in Ali Waddecar.

Waddecar concluded 11 years of service at Brig to make the move to Manchester, having made over 450 appearances in the white and black after moving from local side Lostock St Gerrard’s back in 2010. Now back under the tenure of Reynolds, Waddecar will be hoping to get his first goal of the season against his former side.

United will be hoping to get a result to really get their season started after getting through the first round of qualifying, needing a replay to see off Bootle in the FA Cup.

As for the visitors, they will be hoping to not only extend Ewan Bange’s unbelievable scoring form, but focus on getting another three points on the board as they currently sit three points behind league leaders South Shields.
