Coventry hope to carry their excellent form through to the end of the season, as they welcome Preston to St Andrew’s on Saturday

The Sky Blues have lost only once in their last five games and will hope to extend their great form through to the end of the season, with a win against Preston meaning they would leapfrog their opponents in the table to go 14th.

Preston have only won five games since the start of the year, which was the main reason that Alex Neil was sacked in March, with eight games left to play in the season.

Since the Lancashire outfit appointed Frankie McAvoy as interim manager, however, their season has looked slightly brighter.

Having managed for the club for five games so far, the Scotsman has been able to secure two wins, two draws (this includes picking a point up against the soon to be Championship Champions Norwich) and one loss which came in the form of a heavy beating from Brentford.

With three games left this season for McAvoy’s men, there is a real possibility for Preston picking up nine points from nine in the closing weeks of the season however they will need to start strong against a tough to break down Coventry side.

Although recent form may be in the Sky Blues’ favour, Preston are the side with the better recent head to head record. The Lilywhites have picked up at least a point in 31 of the last 41 meetings, with Coventry only winning 10 of the clashes in recent times.

Although the game at the weekend means nothing in terms of relegation or promotion battles, the game is expected to be a gritty one nonetheless with both sides trying to give fans something to cheer about as the season comes to a close.
