Doncaster Rovers host Burton Albion with the Brewers setting their sights on a third consecutive league victory

Andy Butler’s side welcome Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s men to the Keepmoat Stadium with Donny winless in their last eight matches and the Brewers aiming for a third league victory in a row.

The South Yorkshire side have well and truly plummeted down the league table and out of the play-off places as a result of their bad run of form.

Doncaster have been lost their last four league matches and have simply been unable to match the form that they had under ex-manager and now Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore in the earlier stages of the season.

Butler’s men are currently six points away from sixth-placed Lincoln who currently occupy the final play-off spot having played the same amount of games as the Imps.

In their last outing, the Rovers faced relegation-battling Wigan Athletic at the Keepmoat Stadium and were simply blown away by the Latics.

Joe Dodoo gave the visitors a fantastic start as after only three minutes Leam Richardson’s men took the lead and it put Wigan into good stead for the remainder of the match.

In the 15th minute, the Latics’ lead was doubled through Thelo Aasgaard with Viv Solomon-Otaber adding a third just after the half an hour mark to extend the advantage.

Taylor Richards was able to score a consolation in added time of the first-half as the Rovers looked to salvage a point.

The Latics held on for the rest of the second half and claimed a fourth through Will Keane in the 81st minute to ensure a valuable three points in their battle for survival.

Unlike Wigan’s relegation worries, Burton have been flying under their new boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. In his 17 games in charge of the Brewers, they have only lost four times whilst winning 11 and drawing twice.

They are 10 points clear of the relegation zone and after a rocky start look set to remain in League One for another season.

Hasselbaink’s men faced promotion-pushing Portsmouth at Fratton Park last weekend and they proved the progress they’ve made under the Dutchman.

Not only did they take a two-goal lead and protect their lead until Charlie Daniels’ 88th minute consolation for Pompey, but they only limited the hosts to two shots on target and held on for a strong victory.

Doncaster and Burton are now only separated by nine points in the League One table with the Rovers sat 11th and the Brewers in 18th.

In the reverse fixture, Doncaster ran out as dominant 3-1 victors at the Pirelli Stadium as they continued their fine league form.

Fejiri Okenabirhie gave the Rovers the lead after only eight minutes. Lucas Akins scored a penalty to get the Brewers back on level terms before half-time, but Ben Whiteman had other ideas as he slotted the ball into the back of the net from the spot to put Doncaster in front at the half-time interval.

Richards then made sure of the result in the 59th minute to secure a fourth consecutive victory at the time.

Doncaster have never defeated Burton at the Keepmoat Stadium but the visitors will aim to break that duck and claim a victory which will move them to within six points of the Rovers.
