Cardiff City look to continue their promotion charge as they face Huddersfield Town at The John Smith’s Stadium

After winning seven of their previous eight, Mick McCarthy will take his Cardiff side to The John Smith’s Stadium as they aim to continue with their recent fantastic run of form.

The Bluebirds travel to Huddersfield on the back of an impressive 4-0 win against Wayne Rooney’s Derby County in midweek.

Leandro Bacuna was the star of the show as he bagged himself a brace while leading talisman Kieffer Moore netted his 16th league goal this season to continue his brilliant campaign so far.

Earlier on in the season under Neil Harris, Cardiff were struggling and looking like potential candidates for relegation, however, the arrival of Mick McCarthy has completely turned their season around.

Since taking charge of his first game back in January, McCarthy is currently unbeaten in ten league fixtures whilst accumulating an impressive 24 points out of a possible 30.

The Irishman, however, doesn’t want to get carried away with Cardiff’s recent spell of good results.

“There’s no point having your head in the clouds. Everybody gives you a pat on the back but suddenly there’s a knife in their hand. I don’t get carried away by that stuff. There’s a lot of good teams in this league and we’ll just keep pecking away.”

On Friday night, Cardiff make the trip north as they face a Huddersfield side who have been struggling in recent weeks.

The Terriers have registered just one win in their previous 13 outings and whilst they sit precariously just five points above the relegation zone, manager Carlos Corberán is desperately hoping for a change in fortune and believes his side can turn things around.

“You have to have self-confidence. When you know your position in the table, you know how important every result is.”

In the reverse of this fixture back in December, it was Cardiff who were comfortable winners as they strolled to a 3-0 victory with Kieffer Moore bagging two.

The Welsh outfit will be looking for a similar result on Friday and aim to continue with their good form on the road. McCarthy’s side hold the second-best away record in the division attaining 29 points so far, with only league leaders Norwich ahead of them on 35.

The Bluebirds will however be without left-back Joe Bennett for their trip to West Yorkshire after he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during the midweek win at home to Derby. Lee Tomlin also remains sidelined after undergoing groin surgery back in November.

Corberán has numerous injury concerns himself as Tommy Elphick, Rolando Aarons, Alex Pritchard and Harry Toffolo all still remain out.

The Spaniard did however bring the Terriers fans some positive news during Thursday’s press conference as he confirmed that Danny Ward, Jonathan Hogg and Danny Grant may all rejoin training next week as they look to come back from their respective injuries.
