New Ipswich signings look to star as the Tractor Boys host Blackpool

After a busy transfer window, Ipswich take on in form Blackpool on Saturday afternoon in a six pointer of huge significance to both sides season.

Ipswich are much further down the table than they would have hoped at the beginning of the season as Paul Lambert’s men aim for promotion back to the Championship.

Lambert looked to the transfer window in January to push Town back up the table to promotion spots as the manager signed four players on loan in Troy Parrott, Josh Harrop, Luke Matheson and Luke Thomas.

James Norwood featured off the bench last week against Crewe and could be fit enough to start on Saturday, potentially alongside new signing Troy Parrott. Parrott signed on loan from Tottenham in January and just days after his 19^th birthday is expected to make his debut for Ipswich on Saturday afternoon with Kayden Jackson still out through suspension.

With a high injury list for defenders including Toto Nsiala, James Wilson and Kane Vincent-Young, another January transfer who could start this weekend is Luke Matheson. The full back signed on loan from Wolves on deadline day and with the defensive frailties of the Blues will almost certainly feature at the weekend.

Ipswich will be hoping for no more suspensions this week after consecutive red cards against both Sunderland and Crewe. Teddy Bishop and Kayden Jackson will both miss the clash with Blackpool as they remain out of action due to suspensions.

Blackpool have been in good form of late, as they look to make it three wins on the bounce when they visit Portman Road on Saturday. The Seasiders could also be handing out a debut this weekend as new signing from Sunderland Elliot Embleton could feature as early as Saturday.

The Tractor Boys are in 11^th while Blackpool trail the Blues by one place and two points, hoping to jump ahead of Ipswich as they visit Portman Road. The home side on Saturday came out on top last time the sides met as the Blues thrashed Blackpool 4-1 earlier in the season.

Blackpool boss Neil Critchley knows that the game will be anything but easy as he discussed the opposition and the reverse fixture in October during the week.
