Nottingham Forest look to back up victory at Blackburn Rovers with Rotherham United win

Nottingham Forest will hope to make it two wins from two under Chris Hughton when a struggling Rotherham side visits the City Ground.

The Reds secured their first victory, and points, of the season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

Hughton’s side battled through the first half, with Lewis Grabban coming close early on with a tame effort from inside eight yards.

Sammy Ameobi and substitute Lyle Taylor both hit the upright during the second half as Forest ramped up the pressure in search of a goal.

In stoppage time, Joe Lolley’s strike from the edge of the box deflected off a defender and past Thomas Kaminski to secure the three points.

Rotherham, meanwhile, arrive in the East Midlands off the back of a disappointing defeat to Norwich City.

The Millers, who are without their manager Paul Warne at the City Ground as he continues to self-isolate, fell to a 2-1 defeat in Yorkshire.

Freddie Ladapo gave the Millers an early lead, which he failed to extend in the 21st minute with a missed penalty.

Michael Ihiekwe’s own goal just past the hour-mark levelled the score before Angus MacDonald was shown a straight red card with 20 minutes to go.

Rotherham let the points slip from their grasp in stoppage time as Jordan Hugill netted from the penalty spot.

Forest will likely look to gain momentum following their victory in Lancashire on Saturday and may name an unchanged eleven.

Harry Arter and Lyle Taylor both made impressive performances off the bench and could force changes in midfield and up-front respectively.

Jack Colback was forced off through injury on Saturday but could be ready in time to feature in the match against Rotherham.

Joe Worrall, Fouad Bachirou and Tyler Blackett remain injured and unavailable.

Millers boss Paul Warne revealed one of their players is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a serious injury, but the individual remained un-named.

He did, however, state that he featured in Saturday’s defeat to Norwich. He’ll join Chieo Ogbenne on the sidelines.

Angus MacDonald will be unavailable after being sent off on Saturday. Matt Olosunde and Joe Mattock are eligible.

Speaking ahead of his side’s visit to the City Ground, Paul Warne spoke of the threat posed by a talented Forest side.

“A Chris Hughton side will always be organised, and as we know about him, he’s a winner.

“He’s got teams promoted to the Premier League and it is some coup to get him at any club.

“Obviously, they’ve got Anthony Knockaert in as well now.

“You look at their front four and it’s probably the best in the league. Behind them they have Colback and Yates, so from a team view they are excellent.

“They have the quality to be in the top six, as they were for the majority of last season.

“They won at Blackburn at the weekend, which was an excellent result as well, it will be a very tough game.”

After a hard-earned result at Ewood Park, Hughton hopes to back up the result with another three points.

“We would rather be going into these two home games on the back of a win and the feel of that win, but they are all difficult games in this division.

“We need to take that forward, it was a good three points and a win but there are so many points to fight for in such a short space of time.

“What you have got to do is try and get that momentum.

“In this league, the momentum of winning a few games on the spin, but over a short period of time, can make a huge difference.”
