Southampton have secured the signature of Tottenham full-back Kyle Walker-Peters until the end of the season.
The defender has been limited to just five appearances for the North London club this term, most recently against Bayern Munich in December.
The 22-year-old joins the Saints for the final four months of the season to provide extra depth to the full back areas, being able to play on both sides of the defence.
Walker-Peters expressed his delight at joining the south-coast outfit:
“On a personal note I’m just grateful for the opportunity I’ve been given by the manager and the club.
“I come here looking to help the club improve and improve myself. I just want to win as many games as possible and enjoy playing football.
“I had a chat with the manager and he assured me I was the type of player he liked and I got that feeling from watching Southampton that I could fit in well.”
Saints have seen off competition from fellow Premier League sides West Ham and Crystal Palace to complete the move for the remainder of the campaign.
The deal doesn’t include an option or obligation to buy come the end of the season but with Cedric Soares out of contract at the end of the season and expected to move to Arsenal in the coming days, it provides Walker Peters with a great chance to make a name for himself on the south coast.
The loanee could make his debut as early as this weekend when the Saints make the trip north to face Premier League leaders Liverpool.
