YouTube non-league side Hashtag United confirm relocation to Essex

YouTube football team turned non-league side Hashtag United have today confirmed a move in location.

The popular online team will move from their current home of Coles Park in Tottenham to Chadfields, the home of Bostik North side Tilbury FC.

The team, created by YouTube star Spencer Owen in 2016, joined the non-league pyramid last season where they were placed into the Eastern Senior League by the FA. Last Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Hackney Wick secured the league title and promotion to the Essex Senior League.

In a video released today titled “Where’s Our New Home? – Ask Devs Anything #3” featuring Owen with manager Jay Devereaux, a viewer called ‘Brighton Fan For Life’ asked “Will you stay at Coles Park next season or groundshare with another club?”.

Devereaux confirmed the club will move in the summer with Owen subsequently thanking Bostik Premier side Haringey Borough for having them at Coles Park this season.

Owen said:

“We were put under the impression that if we went up, we could be put into a different league regionally to the one that would be best suited to us which could involve us travelling for hours and hours which would really hurt all of the players, all the volunteers involved at the club so we needed to assure we were going into the league we wanted to which is the Essex Senior League.”

Devereaux also stated that the “heart of the club is in Essex” with Owen also stating that “we wanted to always move that way eventually. That was always the plan” as the club headquarters is in the county and so are the E-Sports players.

Devereaux also confirmed that the club would be ground-sharing with Tilbury Football Club who are members of the Bostik North League and currently managed by former-Basildon United managerial duo Marc Harrison and Liam Wallace. The managers guided Basildon to promotion from Hashtag’s new league, the Essex Senior League last season.

However, Tilbury isn’t new territory for Hashtag as back in August 2018, they visited their new Chadfields home for a pre-season friendly in which they lost 1-0. Former-Portsmouth and Newcastle United star Lomana LuaLua featured for the side that day alongside his 17-year old son Keenan.

Hashtag finish their season on Saturday when they welcome Coggleshall United to Coles Park whilst Tilbury go to already-crowned Bostik North champions Bowers & Pitsea on the same day.
