R’s looking to extend unbeaten run to ten against injury-hit Hull

Queens Park Rangers welcome Hull City to Loftus Road on Saturday afternoon. The R’s are looking to extend their unbeaten run to ten against 22nd placed Hull.

Hull, on the other hand, are desperate for a win to take them out of the relegation zone and will look to top scorer Fraizer Campbell, who has bagged six goals so far this season. The Tigers will take confidence from their midweek draw with league leaders Norwich, one of just four clean sheets so far this season.

Steve McClaren’s side started their league season with four consecutive defeats, but have now recovered to build towards a play-off push. The West London side currently sit in ninth, just three points off the last play-off place and look to continue their good form before fixtures against second and third placed Leeds and Middlesbrough.

The head to head record between these sides indicates the fixture could be close-fought affair. Nigel Adkins’ Hull marginally shade the meetings between the two, winning 17 in comparison to Rangers’ 16, with 16 draws.

These two sides shared a win each last season, with a 90th minute winner from Guinean international striker Idrissa Sylla, sealing a 2-1 QPR win at Loftus Road in August 2017.

Hull did get their revenged in the corresponding fixture, running out convincing 4-0 victors at the KCOM stadium.

QPR remain without long term absentee Darnell Furlong, who continues his recovery from a knee injury, but are expected to name the same team that drew away at Rotherham on Tuesday.

Massimo Luongo, Joel Lynch and Toni Leistner are all a booking away from a suspension and with key games coming up, McClaren will hope his key players can remain disciplined on Saturday.

Hull’s injury list is more lengthy than their hosts with James Weir, Daniel Batty, Stephen Kingsley, Jon Toral and Evandro all missing the midweek goalless draw with Norwich. They do welcome back Frazier Campbell from suspension, but Markus Henriksen, Eric Lichaj and Reece Burke are all doubts for the trip to Loftus Road after picking up knocks in Tuesday’s match.

Prediction: QPR should extend their unbeaten run to double figures against a struggling Hull side.
