Drogba May Miss World Cup

1

Chelsea star and Ivory Coast captain Didier Drogba may be out of the World Cup. He sustained a fractured elbow during the pre-World Cup friendly with Japan after a clash with defender Marcus Tulio Tanaka.

It was Tanaka who scored for both sides in Japan’s 2-1 friendly defeat to England and the Brazilian-born star seemingly can’t keep out of the news. Ivory Coast play Brazil in Group G so conspiracy theories cannot be far behind.

Ivory Coast don’t start their campaign until June 15th when they play Portugal in what many see as the crucial match in their impossible Group G, which also contains Tanaka’s native Brazil and North Korea and the Ivory Coast’s Swedish coach Sven-Goran Eriksson wasn’t ruling out last season’s EPL top scorer yet.

  1. While I doubt it, I really hope Drogba is able to play.

Ivory Coast is the best African team in the tournament. Without Drogba though, I don’t think they’ll have much chance of making it out of the group. It was already going to be a major struggle.
