Two footballers scoring braces in the same game is incredibly rare, but it was a feat accomplished by Cole Stockton and Colby Bishop the last time Accrington Stanley met Morecambe.
It was a season to forget for the Saddlers, who gave their fans very little to cheer about. A mass rebuild is ahead throughout the whole club, and one that is welcomed by it’s fans.
Colchester dominated in what was a must-win game for the U’s. For Walsall, questions have once again been raised about interim manager Brian Dutton, as they look set for their lowest finish in 100 years of league football.
Both Walsall and Colchester had big hopes and expectations at the start of the season. However, with only five games left, both sides are looking down, rather than up.
In a game that won’t live long in the memory, Walsall and Exeter grafted to try and seal the win. The game didn’t excite, and with only three shots on target, 0-0 was a fair result. It did however, end a run that the Saddlers will be glad to be rid of.
In an entertaining match, Stevenage were held to a 1-1 draw against the visiting Walsall, who are still adapting to life under Brian Dutton.
When these sides met earlier in the season, it was Southend who notched up the three points, the first time they had done so all season. Walsall will be out for revenge, and with it, hopes for a kickstart to their stuttering season.
Walsall and Grimsby are two well organised teams looking to improve on their previous seasons outings and have two managers who are not afraid to speak their minds.
Saddlers fans will be looking for a better performance this season from their team after finishing 12th last season in League Two.
Bournemouth are on a meteoric rise from League 2 obscurity to European football, whilst Southampton are seemingly on their way back down from their recent high in Europe. These two sides meet to decide which set of fans gets the South Coast bragging rights this season.
