Colorado Rapids 1-1 Minnesota United

COMMERCE CITY, CO–The Rapids and Minnesota United played to a 1-1 draw at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Saturday essentially keeping both teams where they are in the table. The Rapids remain eighth and two points clear of tenth place FC Dallas, while the Loons remain third and two points adrift of Western Conference leading San Diego.

Colorado had most of the chances in the first half, only to see most of those chances go wide or stopped by Dayne St. Clair who would make seven saves on the night. However in first half stoppage time, St. Clair could not stop a Rafael Santos free kick from getting to the far post to give the Rapids the lead.

If Santos’s goal was impressive, Nectarios Triantes’s goal would be more so as he would score from 30 yards out to level the score. Calvin Harris had a chance to put the Rapids back on top four minutes later, but headed over the bar. Joaquin Pereya would hit one off the post for the Loons in the 74th minute.

The Rapids will look to clinch their playoff space next Saturday in the Rocky Mountain Cup battle at Real Salt Lake in what also will be a six-pointer as far as the playoff picture is concerned. Kickoff is at 7:30pm MT on Apple TV. The Loons, still with a chance at the top seen in the West, will host Sporting Kansas City on Saturday (7:30pm CT, Apple TV).
