FOXBOROUGH, MA — The New England Revolution have loaned goalkeeper Maxwell Weinstein to Estonian A side JK Tallinna Kalev of the Meistriliiga.

Maxwell Weinstein is a 21-year-old, 6’0, 170lb goalkeeper from Montpelier, Vermont.

Weinstein joined the New England Revolution Academy in 2020 after participating in one of the club’s Elite Player Pathway camps. He was a member of the 2022 U-19 MLS NEXT Cup Championship team. During his time with the U-19s, he was named Goalkeeper of the Tournament. He made his New England Revolution II debut in July of 2022 and signed an MLS NEXT Pro contract ahead of the 2023 season. He was the 9th player to ascend to the Revolution II’s roster from the Revolution Academy since 2020. He now joins JK Tallinna Kalev as his second professional club.

In total career numbers, the goalkeeper has made 26 career appearances (2,340 minutes) for New England Revolution II where he has allowed 46 goals, registered 5 clean sheets, & 2 yellow cards.

He is eligible to represent the United States at the International level.

Sources confirmed to me that on June 30th, 2025, Weinstein departed Massachusetts to Estonia to undergo medical testing to complete the move.

Weinstein joins a struggling Meistriliiga side that currently sits in last place with a 2W-1D-15L (7 pts.) record. The club however just advanced to the Round of 32 of the Estonia Cup (winning the Estonia Cup can guarantee qualification for the UECL).

Historically, JK Tallinna Kalev were founded in 1911 and are the oldest club competing in the Meistriliiga. They have been Meistriliiga champions twice, in 1922 & 1930 respectively. In 2023, the club qualified for UEFA Europa Conference League for the first time.

With the move, Weinstein becomes the third New England Revolution goalkeeper in the last 3 seasons to be moved to a European side (Matt Turner – Feb. 2022 to Arsenal FC, Đorđe Petrović – Aug. 2023 to Chelsa FC).
