(9) Portland Timbers (2,2,1, 7 points) vs (13) Houston Dynamo (0,3,2,2 points)
Sunday, March 30, 2025, KO 4:00 PM PST/ 8:00 PM EST
Providence Park, Portland, Oregon
Portland Timbers Briefly
How about those three points earned on the road against a resilient Colorado Rapids side? They are considered invincible at home and hard to defeat, but the Timbers delivered with class.
David Da Costa scored his second goal for the Portland Timbers, with a deflection from Colorado’s Josh Atencio in the 47th minute made it 1-0. Antony then scored in the 48th minute, increasing the lead to 2-0. Finally, in the 75th minute, Kevin Kelsy scored his first goal as a Timber, bringing the score to 3-0.
Nothing is certain for the Rose City side, which is seeking its first win of the season. Last season, they had the upper hand over the Timbers.
As this team connects, I foresee a tough time for the Dynamo when they step into Providence Park to face the Portland side, which is hungry to secure another win over the visiting Houston team.
As I mentioned before, the team is now connecting, with players like Da Costa, Kelsy, and Fory uniting in both attack and defense. I foresee many wins on the horizon as these players make their case.
Kelsy is starting to make more appearances on the pitch, and I can tell he is eager to score goals, just like Fory, who has also contributed with an assist. I’m curious to see what more these new players will bring to the team.
The Portland Timbers and their manager, Phil Neville, have a long journey ahead of them. However, I believe this team will ultimately succeed despite the challenges they’ll face throughout the season. They are sure to rise to the occasion and make a strong, comprehensive statement.

Houston Dynamo Briefly
Manager Ben Olsen’s envisioned season for the Dynamo has not materialized, as they are struggling and lacking wins in 2025. Although they may have a chance against the Portland Timbers at home, it is likely to be difficult.
Despite several offseason signings, including veteran midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro, former Orlando defender Michael Halliday, goalkeeper Blake Gillingham, veteran Junior Urso, and USMNT midfielder Jack McGlynn from the Union; the Dynamo lost against FC Dallas, Inter Miami, and Real Salt Lake, failing to earn their first win of the season after a couple of draws against Seattle and Columbus, both on the road.
This team is always striving for an upset, aiming to earn their first road win at Providence Park against a motivated Portland Timbers side seeking three points.
