Fulham will meet Brentford at Wembley next Tuesday for a place in the EPL. Leading 2-0 from the away leg in Cardiff, the Cottagers limped into the final with a 3-2 aggregate win over the South Wales side.
Although they lost 1-2 on the night, the goals in Wales provided enough of a cushion to ensure Scott Parker’s side a place in the final.
Curtis Nelson gave Cardiff the lead in the 8th minute to bring the deficit down to just one goal. However that situation lasted barely a minute before Neeskens Kebano restored Fulham’s two goal aggregate lead.
Worryingly for Parker, he limped off at half time to be replaced by Aboubakar Kamara. Within seconds of the restart, substitute Lee Tomlin scored Cardiff’s second to leave the tie perilously poised at 3-2.
Despite several scares, Fulham saw the match home to secure their trip to the play-off final.
Parker rested Serbian striker Aleksander Mitrovic for the game but said after the match, that he was likely to be fit for the final.
