Arsenal were able to edge out Everton in a five-goal thriller. Everton were able to get an early lead through Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Arsenal were 2-1 up after 33 minutes after goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Eddie Nketiah.
Richarlison struck back before the end of the first-half, but Aubaymeyang was able to get his second of the game in the 46th minute to secure the three points for Arsenal which sees them move to ninth in the Premier League.
What a great start Everton made to the match. In the first minute, Gylfi Sigurdson curled a free-kick into the penalty area. The ball fell to Dominic Calvert-Lewin who scored from an acrobatic attempt taking his tally to 12 goals in the Premier League this season.
Arsenal looked to get back into the game. The Gunners played the ball nicely, Hector Bellerin pulled the trigger with the ball going way over the crossbar from his effort.
Everton nearly made it 2-0. The Toffees broke at speed with Richarlison able to play Alex Iwobi through, but his shot sailed over the bar.
A decent chance for Arsenal from the corner. Nicolas Pepe whipped a good ball into the box with Skhodran Mustafi not able to direct the header goalwards.
In the 18th minute, Arsenal were forced to make a change, the injured with Sead Kolasinac came off the pitch and was replaced by Bukayo Saka.
Everton made a mistake, Pepe was able to spread a pass to Eddie Nketiah with the striker unable to put his shot on target.
Everton were able to get up at the other end a few moments later, with Iwobi’s shot going over.
In the 27th minute, Arsenal equalised through Nketiah. Saka crossed the ball fantastically with Nketiah able to tap the ball past Jordan Pickford.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang turned the score in Arsenal’s favour. A fantastic ball from David Luiz, left the striker through on goal with his curled effort going into the back of the net.
In added time a corner was whipped in from Leighton Baines. Richarlison pounced onto the end of it and was able to direct the ball past Leno in goal. A costly mistake from the former Leverkusen man.
The referee blew his whistle for half-time. The Toffees started the first-half stron and ended it in similar fashion. Calvert-Lewin opened the scoring for Everton. Nketiah and Aubameyang restored the scoring in Arsenal favour. Richarlison equalised for Everton deep into added time with the half-time score being 2-2.
23 seconds into the second-half Arsenal scored to make it 3-2. Aubameyang guided the ball into the back of the net to put Arsenal back in the lead.
In the 58th minute, Everton looked like they were going to get an equaliser. Richarlison broke quickly and squared the ball to Calvert-Lewin with the striker not able to get onto the end of the pass.
Everton attacked yet again, Richarlison crossed the ball in with Mustafi able to head away. The ball fell to Sigurdsson with the midfielder shot going wide of the Arsenal goal.
In the 72nd minute, Leno made a great save to keep Everton out. Bernard crossed the ball into Richarlison who headed the ball down to find Calvert-Lewin with the strikers shot saved by the Arsenal goalkeeper.
A great corner routine from Arsenal. A short corner and great trio play from Dani Ceballos, Mesut Ozil and Pepe saw Ozil pass the ball into the path of Ceballos with his shot going narrowly over.
Everton tried yet again to score. Fabian Delph tried from long-range with the ball falling nicely to Richarlison, but the striker unable to convert the chance due to Leno making a great stop.
In the 80th minute, Everton squandered yet another fantastic chance. Andre Gomes sprayed a fantastic ball into the feet of Richarlison with Calvert-Lewin not able to get on the end of the cross.
In the 86th minute, Everton were unable to clear their lines with the ball falling kindly to Nketiah. The striker took a shot with the ball rattling the crossbar.
A risk was made from Leno, Gomes looked to have played Richarlison through with the German goalkeeper able to make a vital challenge to clear the ball away.
Everton were so close to equalise, but Calvert-Lewin wasn’t able to divert Bernard’s cross into the back of the net.
In the dying stages of the game, Moise Kean flashed his shot wide of the goal.
The referee blew the whistle for full-time. Arsenal were able to keep Everton at bay in the final stages. An important 3-2 win for the Gunners.
