Mansfield Town make the trip to Plymouth looking for a vital win to reignite their season

The Stags will face Plymouth Argyle this weekend with the amber and blues left frustrated last time out against Forest Green Rovers.

The Stags suffered a disappointing defeat last time out, losing 4-3 to promotion-chasing Forest Green Rovers despite making it 3-3 through Nicky Maynard in the 90th minute.

Plymouth have won four of their last five league games, recording a 3-0 victory away at Carlisle United on Saturday.

Midfielder Willem Tomlinson is likely to miss the fixture due to a groin injury, while wing-back Kellan Gordon (back), will be absent.

For the Pilgrims, Callum McFadzean, Dom Telford, Ryan Taylor and Will Aimson are all injured.

Plymouth manager Ryan Lowe gave the media an injury update with a key of his players suspected to make returns really soon:

“Tayls has come out of that slipper he was wearing, so he’s alright now and doing some jogging,” said manager Ryan Lowe.

“Dom Telford is training with [head of fitness and conditioning]John [Lucas], him and McFadzean. He [Telford] will start full training on Monday and will be back and available for Stevenage [on January 25].

“McFadzean will probably be 10 days away from him. Will Aimson is looking at probably the first week in February and Tayls will be anytime in the next two weeks.”

Mansfield Town manager Graham Coughlan has challenged his players to change Stags’ ‘fortunes’ away at Plymouth Argyle this weekend, as he looks to instil a ‘winning mentality’ into his side:

“It [Plymouth game] is a massive challenge,” he said, speaking in Tuesday morning’s news conference at The RH Academy. “It’s a big ground, big club, brilliant fanbase. It’ll be a massive challenge and we know that.

“It’s going to be difficult as Plymouth are probably the best team in the division, truth be told. It’s a mountain to climb but I’ve come here to climb a mountain and change the fortunes of this football club.

“We need to change our mindset. There’s no bigger or better challenge than going down to Plymouth, against a team that are in form.”
