Chelsea forward Álvaro Morata is rumoured to be in talks with Spanish side Atletico Madrid in a loan deal which would see the struggling striker return to his place of birth.
The forward has fallen out of favour with Italian coach Maurizio Sarri, who has grown increasingly frustrated with the 26-year-old with Sarri has preferring Eden Hazard to a false nine rather than use the club’s record signing.
Since joining in July 2017, Morata has scored 24 goals in 72 games for the English side, netting nine times in 24 games this season. The Spanish International has been rumoured to be joining plenty of clubs, but most seem insistent on the forward moving back to Spain.
Diego Simeone’s Atletico have been struggling this season for goals even after bringing in the attacking support of Thomas Lemar and Gelson Martins. Diego Costa and Nikola Kalinic, who are back-ups to Antoine Griezmann, have only scored three in the league between them.
Griezmann has scored nine goals in La Liga which is 33.3 % of the clubs’ tally in the league, no player has scored over ten goals for the side despite them currently sitting second in the league behind FC Barcelona.
The move could be an opportunity for the attacker to reboot his career, as the jury is still out on whether he will ever be worth the £70 Million that the English giants paid for him.
