FOXBOROUGH, MA –New England Revolution (8-2-5, 26 pts.) battled to a 0-0 draw versus Toronto FC (3-7-6, 16 pts.) on Wednesday night.
The match kicked off at 7:30 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium to a crowd of 25,000.

Toronto FC opened the second half on the front foot, quickly looking to advance the ball as they looked to apply early pressure in New England’s midfield.
Griffin Yow had the first chance of the match in the 3rd minute, but his effort on goal was deflected behind for a corner kick.
Emilio Aristizábal registered Toronto’s first shot of the match in the 10th minute, but his effort drifted just wide of the net.
New England created two more chances in the 16th and 17th minutes through Griffin Yow. His first effort was deflected and saved before, a minute later, he fired another shot from inside the box just wide of the net.

In the 27th minute, Daniel Sallói generated Toronto’s next scoring opportunity, but his left-footed effort drifted wide of the left post.
Griffin Yow came inches away from opening the scoring in the 30th minute when Dor Turgeman picked him out with a cut-back pass from the end line. From six yards out and with the goal at his mercy, Yow pushed his effort wide of the open net.
New England’s next chance came in the 33rd minute when Carles Gil drove atop the right side of the box and unleashed a curled left footed effort that snuck wide of the left post.
Jules-Anthony Vilsaint nearly broke the deadlock in the 37th minute when he attempted an improvised backheel finish from point-blank range. However, the effort ricocheted off his own foot and came to rest less than a yard from the goal line, allowing Toronto to escape another golden opportunity.

Carles Gil had New England’s two best chances of the half in the 43rd minute. His left-footed strike rattled the crossbar before the rebound fell back to him, but his right-footed follow-up was denied by a diving save from Luka Gavran.
New England threatened again less than a minute later when a cross to the back post found Peyton Miller, whose first-time effort was deflected off the back foot of goalkeeper Luka Gavran before being cleared away.
After the initial 45+3 minutes, the match entered halftime with the scoreline level at 0-0.

Prior to the start of the second half, Toronto FC head coach Robin Fraser made one change by replacing Emilio Aristizábal with Josh Sargent.
New England opened the second half with a clever kickoff routine, faking a long ball down the left before switching play to Griffin Yow on the right. Yow delivered a cross into the area, but the opportunity came to nothing.
Josh Sargent had the first chance of the second half in the 47th minute, but his effort was deflected behind by Alhassan Yusuf for a corner kick.
Toronto nearly opened the scoring less than a minute later when Jules-Anthony Vilsaint’s strike from 25 yards grazed the post before going out for a goal kick.

In the 56th minute, Revolution defender Matt Polster was shown a yellow card for bringing down Toronto midfielder Richie Laryea.
New England responded with another opportunity two minutes later when Brooklyn Raines’ effort from the edge of the area took a deflection before being comfortably gathered by Toronto goalkeeper Luka Gavran.
Toronto nearly found the breakthrough in the 60th minute after Daniel Salloi delivered a dangerous ball into the penalty area. Defender Will Sands inadvertently redirected it toward his own goal, but the looping header crashed off the crossbar. The chance was wiped away moments later, however, as Sands had been fouled during the buildup, resulting in a free kick for New England.
Following the stoppage, Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović made his first change of the evening, introducing Marcos Zambrano in place of Griffin Yow.

Matt Polster generated New England’s next opportunity in the 62nd minute, but his right-footed effort from outside the penalty area drifted wide of the left post.
Before the ensuing goal kick, Toronto FC head coach Robin Fraser made his second and third substitutions of the evening, introducing Theo Corbeanu and Malik Henry in place of Deandre Kerr and Jules-Anthony Vilsaint.
Toronto was then forced into another change in the 71st minute when Richard Chukwu departed the match and was replaced by Zane Monlouis.
Two minutes later, Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović responded with his second and third substitutions, bringing on Luca Langoni and Wilson Harris for Matt Polster and Dor Turgeman.

Josh Sargent came inches away from giving New England the lead in the 75th minute when he met a corner kick delivery with a powerful header, but his effort drifted just wide of the post.
In the 85th minute, Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović made his fourth & fifth change of the match by replacing Alhassan Yusuf & Ethan Kohler with Jackson Yueill & Brayam Ceballos.
In the 90+2 minute, Revolution midfielder Brooklyn Raines was issued a yellow card for a foul on Richie Laryea.
After the 90+5 minutes, the match concluded with New England holding on for the 1-0 victory.
