Early Saturday morning, Niko Moreno of Sounder at Heart reported that the New England Revolution had acquired defender Cody Baker from Seattle Sounders FC via trade.
However, sources have indicated that the transaction is structured as a loan rather than a permanent transfer.
In exchange, New England will send Seattle an MLS SuperDraft selection and conditional General Allocation Money (GAM), with the amount tied to Baker’s playing time.
Sources have also indicated that the agreement could include an option for the Revolution to acquire Baker permanently.
Baker joins a New England defensive group that includes Mamadou Fofana, Brayan Ceballos, Ethan Kohler, Tanner Beason, Keegan Hughes, Andrew Farrell, Will Sands, Peyton Miller, Ilay Feingold and Damario McIntosh.
