New England Revolution set to acquire Marcos Zambrano on loan from Real Salt Lake

FOXBOROUGH, MA– The New England Revolution are set to acquire former United States U20 forward Marcos Zambrano from Real Salt Lake via loan.

Deal includes a purchase option; he will occupy a senior roster slot.

Marcos Zambrano is a 21-year-old, 5’11, 170lb forward from Guayaquil, Ecuador.

At the club level, Zambrano has played 33 career games (1,534 minutes) across Portugal & the United States. A product of the Philadelphia Union Academy (2021-23), he began his professional career by signing with Portuguese side S.L. Benfica (2023-24). In 2024, Zambrano joined Vitória Sport Clube B (2024-25). Following the conclusion of the 2025 campaign, Zambrano returned stateside to sign as a free agent for Real Salt Lake (2025-present). He now joins New England Revolution (2026 – present) on loan.

In total club career numbers, the forward has contributed 6 career goals, 2 assists, along with 2 yellow cards.

Internationally, Zambrano has previous youth appearances for the Ecuador U15, U16, & U17 Youth National Teams. He made the one-time switch and had since represented the United States National Team at the U17, U19, & U20 levels.

Early Wednesday morning, Tom Bogert of The Athletic reported that the New England Revolution had acquired Marcos Zambrano from Real Salt Lake via loan. The deal does include a purchase option.

New England Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović had previously coached Zambrano at the U-20 World Cup.

Zambrano joins U20 World Cup teammates Ethan Kohler, Peyton Miller & Brooklyn Raines in New England.

Zambrano now joins a New England offensive group featuring Leo Campana, Dor Turgeman, Griffin Yow, Luca Langoni, Malcolm Fry, Diego Fagundez & Cristiano Oliveira.

Marko Mitrović and the New England Revolution (1-0-3, 3 pts.) return home to face Eastern Conference side CF Montréal (1-0-3, 3 pts). The match is set to kickoff at Gillette Stadium Park on Saturday, April 4th at 7:30 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.
