Colorado Rapids 2-1 Houston Dynamo
COMMERCE CITY, CO–The Colorado Rapids boosted their playoff hopes with a 2-1 win over the Houston Dynamo at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Saturday. The win puts them in eighth in the Western Conference and five points above the playoff line while the Dynamo remain in 12th, two points adrift of ninth place San Jose and one point behind RSL and FC Dallas.
The Rapids took the lead on ten minutes when Rafael Santos laid off a free kick for Cole Bassett to beat Jonathan Bond near post. Both teams had numerous chances to get the next goal. The closest was Jack McGlynn shooting one off the post in the 65th minute. He would score three minutes later tapping in a looping ball from Lawrence Ennali.

It appeared like the match was destined to end in a draw the Rapids missed a couple of chances in stoppage time, in the sixth minute of a minimum of six, Connor Ronan’s corner was accidentally headed in by Felipe Andrade and the Rapids would net all three points while Houston will be without Artur next week as he picked up a second yellow before the final whistle.
The Rapids travel to FC Dallas next Saturday (6:30pm MT, Apple TV) while the Dynamo will look to rebound at home to Portland on Saturday (7:30pm CT, Apple TV).
