The match kicked off with Atlanta United 2 starting from the center circle as they elected to launch the ball into New England’s defensive third to begin the match.
Atlanta United 2 had the first chance of the match when a headed effort by Rodrigo Neri just missed the net.

Forward Marcos Dias stepped up and buried it into the bottom left corner to make it 1-0 to New England.
Eric Klein had the next chance for New England when a cut-back cross by Gevork Diarbian towards Klein was cleared away. Nobody told Klein that he had a man-on and he was cleared out. No foul given.

Forward Liam Butts found forward Malcolm Fry on the right flank where Fry took a touch, and buried it into the bottom right corner to make it 2-0.
Gevork Diarbian had an effort of his own in the 13th minute however he sent it over the bar.
Entering the 15th minute, the match entered a hydration break.
Liam Butts had a chance in the 18th minute after a cut-back cross by Diarbian but it was unfortunately cleared away for a throw-in.

Forward Malcolm Fry found forward Marcos Dias entering the box during a three versus one and he elected to pass the ball toward the left to find forward Liam Butts wide open at the back-post to make it 3-0 to New England.
Gevork Diarbian had the next chance for New England when he received the ball on the left flank, drove centrally and had a curling effort that was deflected away for a corner kick.
Entering the 33rd minute, the match entered another hydration break.
In the 43rd minute, Atlanta United 2 defender Javier Armas was issued a yellow card for a foul on Liam Butts.
Eric Klein had a chance of his own in the 45+1 minute after Marcos Dias found him open inside the six-yard box, however, Klein sent his effort over the bar.

Atlanta United 2’s first major chance came just a minute later when a headed effort towards goal by Ryan Carmichael was caught by Donovan Parisian.
Damorney Hutchinson had a massive opportunity to add to New England’s lead in the 73rd minute when his effort from the right flank was met with a great save by goalkeeper Jonathan Ransom.
Allan Oyirwoth had a volley attempt from the ensuing corner kick just a minute later that was deflected away and cleared.
