Revolution II suffer first loss of season versus Orlando City B

FOXBOROUGH, MA– New England Revolution II (2-1-1, 8 pts) were defeated 1-0 versus Orlando City B (3-1-1, 11 pts.) on Wednesday afternoon.

The match kicked off at 7:00 p.m. ET at Osceola Heritage Park.

The match kicked off with Orlando City B starting from the center circle and immediately looked to advance the ball into New England’s defensive third.

New England had the first chance of the match when Gevork Diarbian’s right-footed effort in the 6th minute went just wide of the right post.

Orlando’s first chance came entering the 9th minute when Gustavo Caraballo’s curled effort was caught by goalkeeper Donovan Parisian.

In the 16th minute, Revolution II defender Hesron Barry was issued a yellow card for fouling Zakaria Taifi near midfield.

Less than one minute later, Gevork Diarbian had yet another opportunity when his right-footed effort missed the left post.

In the 30th minute, Orlando City B head coach Manuel Goldberg was forced to make his first change of the match. He replaced injured Thalles with Dyson Clapier.

Less than one minute later, Gustavo Caraballo had a left footed effort of his own that was sent high over the bar.

In the 43rd minute, Revolution II midfielder Eric Klein was issued a yellow card for fouling Justin Ellis.

Orlando had another opportunity in the 45th minute when Dyson Clapier’s effort on the left flank was deflected away for a corner kick.

After the initial 45+2 minutes, the match entered halftime with the scoreline level at 0-0.

The second half began with New England Revolution II starting from the center circle and swiftly advanced the ball into Orlando City B’s defensive third.

In the 54th minute, Orlando City II head coach Manuel Goldberg made his second change of the match by replacing Justin Ellis with Riyon Tori.

Less than one minute later, New England had the first chance of the second half when Liam Butts’ strike was met with a spectacular save by goalkeeper Javier Otero.

In the 58th minute, Orlando City B midfielder Dyson Clapier was issued a yellow card for a sliding foul on Alex Monis near midfield.

Liam Butts had yet another chance in the 59th minute when his close-range shot went wide of the net.

In the 60th minute, Revolution II head coach Richie Williams made his first two changes by replacing Liam Butts & Gevork Diarbian with Olger Escobar & Damorney Hutchinson.

Less than one minute later, Orlando City B defender Tahir Reid-Brown was issued a yellow card for fouling Damario McIntosh.

In the 75th minute, Revolution II head coach Richie Williams made his third change of the match by replacing Alex Monis with Cristiano Oliveira.

Just 3 minutes later, Orlando City B head coach Manuel Goldberg made his third change of the match by replacing Gustavo Caraballo with Hayden Sargis.

Entering the 81st minute, Orlando City B took the lead.

Following a through-ball by Shawn Platts, the ball found Shak Mohammed in-behind for a right-footed finish past goalkeeper Donovan Parisian to give Orlando the 1-0 advantage.

In the 87th minute, Orlando City B midfielder Riyon Tori was issued a yellow card for a sliding challenge on Allan Oyirwoth.

Following the foul, Revolution II head coach Richie Williams made his final change of the match by replacing Eric Klein with Judah Siqueira.

After the 90+4 minutes, the match concluded with Orlando holding on for the 1-0 victory.

With the result, New England move to 4th place in the MLS NEXT Pro Eastern Conference Standings.
