Revolution II sign defender Giovanni Calderón

FOXBOROUGH, MA– The New England Revolution II have signed defender Giovanni Calderón for the remainder of the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro campaign.

He will occupy a senior roster slot.

Giovanni Calderón is a 22-year-old, 6’4, 185lb defender from New Haven, Connecticut.

At the club level, Calderón has played 26 career games across the United States in the USL Championship and MLS NEXT Pro. He began his career with Hartford Athletic (2021). Less than a month later, he played for AC Connecticut (2021). He then played for Ventura County Fusion (2022). New England is his 4th professional club.

He played collegiately at the United States Naval Academy (2021) & Cal State Fullerton (2022-24). He was captain of Cal State.

Internationally, Calderón represents Puerto Rico and he has made 25 career appearances, 10 of which are with the senior team.

In career numbers, the defender has contributed 0 career professional goals, 2 assists, along with 2 yellow cards and 0 red cards.

Richie Williams and the New England Revolution II (4-2-9, 16 pts.) return home to face Eastern Conference side Philadelphia Union II (9-3-3, 32 pts.).
