Vitality Netball Superleague weekend preview

Round 12 of the Vitality Netball Superleague starts off with in form Surrey Storm taking on Team Bath whilst Saracens Mavericks entertain Celtic Dragons.

Storm have really put an encouraging run of results together after their narrow loss to local rivals London Pulse. The Surrey-based outfit have recorded four straight victories against Mavericks, Wasps, Dragons and most recently, a home win over Severn Stars 68-52 last weekend.

Team Bath will be out for revenge after Storm picked up their first win of the season against Bath at the Bath Sports Village in February.

Fourth place Mavericks, who are one place ahead of Storm by virtue of a better goal difference, face Dragons on Saturday hot off a big win over Wasps on Monday 62-43. The Welsh side are looking for just their second victory of the season after losing out to Manchester Thunder 59-50 last Saturday.

Top of the table Thunder are in search of their twelfth straight win of the campaign when they face Severn Stars at Belle Vue on Saturday.

Manchester have brushed aside every side they have faced so far and already look like the side that will take a lot of stopping.

It has been a struggle for Stars this campaign, with just one solitary win to their name. After the 16-goal loss to Storm on Saturday, they now have an even difficult challenge ahead of them to stop the Manchester Thunder machine.

The action concludes on Monday with Leeds Rhinos taking on Strathclyde Sirens at 5.30 pm and Team Bath facing off against London Pulse at 7.30 pm.

Rhinos sit in 7^th place in the table with five wins to their name. Last week they suffered a 62-54 loss at the hands of second place Loughborough Lightning, who have lost only once this season.

Strathclyde Sirens have so far recorded victories three times this season. They will be looking to get back to winning ways after a 57-40 defeat to Team Bath last Saturday.

Bath go into Monday’s match up against Pule with a fifty per cent record this campaign. Five wins and five losses so far for the West Country side.

Pulse are nine points behind Lightning and 15 behind Thunder going into Monday’s game. They sit currently in third place with seven wins but will look to get themselves back to winning ways after suffering a home loss to Lightning on Saturday 64-44.
