Hauger, Doohan and Vesti discussed their season’s so far as the F3 championship battle intensifies with two rounds to go

The title contenders, Dennis Hauger, Jack Doohan and Frederik Vesti, gave their thoughts on their respective season’s so far ahead of this weekend’s Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort.

Championship leader Hauger, second-place Doohan and third-place Vesti opened up about how they’ve found the season with only two rounds remaining.

ART Grand Prix’s Frederik Vesti took on the question first and the Dane was not ‘fully satisfied’ with his results but he is determined that he’ll ‘end up in a good position after the final two rounds’ of the season.

“I am not fully satisfied with the results we’ve had so far. We’ve had quite a lot of technical issues and also struggled a bit within the team to have the consistency each weekend and I think that’s why we are missing some points to the championship leader.

“However, we’ve shown some strong results over the year and I’m sure we can end up in a good position after the final two rounds as that’s what we are pushing for.”

After a positive weekend at Spa last time out, Trident’s Jack Doohan spoke about ‘maximising the potential’ that the car in the final two rounds of the season.

“It’s been good. It hasn’t been ideal as in an ideal world I’d have scored points on four ocassions. Two technical issue forced me out of the race, a collision and then in Spa with the weather, but if you take into account some areas where you could have scored quite a lot of points, they’d be counting now.

“You can’t change anything from the past so it is full focus on the last two rounds and maximise the potential of what we’ve got. “

Consistency has been key for championship leader and Prema driver Dennis Hauger as he spoke about having a ‘quite good’ year but ‘keeping the consistency going’ in the final stages of the campaign.

“Overall, it’s not been too bad as I think we’ve had the pace. Obviously last weekend was a bit of a struggle for us as a team but we found out a few things ahead of race three and we managed to get up the order a bit but it was too late for the overall weekend in terms of points.

“We have to reset and bring everything we learned from there, but in general as a year, it’s been quite good and we’ve just got to keep that consistency going and look ahead to the final two rounds.”

The challenge of Zandvoort now awaits the drivers as they start with free practice this morning before hitting the track this afternoon for qualifying ahead of three very important races.
