Richard Marshall’s men dominated Hull FC on Bank Holiday Monday at the AJ Bell Stadium running out 42-14 winners.

Tries from Chris Atkin, Harvey Levitt, Joe Burgess and a quadruple from Ken Sio saw off Hull FC who were nothing short of outclassed in the second period.

The first half was fairly balanced with all to play for at the break with the score standing at 12-8 to the home side.

The game even looked to be heading in FC’s favour after Danny Houghton crossed early in the second half to put Hull ahead before the onslaught began.

Four tries in 11 minutes saw Salford run out comfortable winners in a game that FC simply had to win in order to continue their slim play-off hopes.

After losing to play-off chasing rivals Castleford Tigers last time out, Hull FC Head Coach Brett Hodgson won’t be happy that his side has suffered back-to-back loses at such a crucial point in the season.

Ken Sio was awarded the Man of the Match award and nobody in the ground could have disagreed with the decision after the Australian touched down four times, including the final try of the game in which Sio ran the length of the pitch off the back of a great interception from Krisnan Inu.

Inu also had a great game, converting on seven occasions to help Salford to just their second win in their last six games.

During the post-match press conference, Red Devils Head Coach Richard Marshall was delighted with the character of his players and described himself as a ‘proud coach’.

He was quick to praise Sio for obvious reasons with the four tries and was also full of praise for Chris Atkin who filled in at hooker. Atkin was described as a ‘unsung hero’ by his Head Coach who was left buzzing after the big win.

As for Brett Hodgson, he was very disappointed with the performance and felt his side ‘lacked resilience’ which is something they’ve ‘prided themselves for this season’. He wasn’t happy with the fight shown by some individuals and felt that his side arrived with a ‘survival mentality’.

All in all, Hull FC will just have to keep plugging away to see if they can get back into the play-off picture. For Salford, their fans certainly enjoyed that one and the AJ Bell was rocking come full-time.
