Formula 3 is back and the weather could play a huge factor as rainfall is forecasted throughout the weekend as the drivers take on the challenge that is Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.

Speaking to Prost International, Logan Sargeant, Caio Collet and Ayumu Iwasa gave their thoughts ahead of what could be a seriously chaotic weekend in Belgium.

Charouz Racing System’s Logan Sargeant was first to answer the question and the American spoke about the tricky race conditions that are forecasted and how paramount it will be to stay out of trouble throughout the weekend.

“Whatever the maximum amount of points is! [regarding how many points he’d like to gain from this weekend]. No I am kinding. I think we have some tricky conditions ahead of us so it will be important to navigate through those and then if we get like a top six in qualifying and it is hard to predict the races but to stay clean and get some good results will be important.”

MP Motorsport’s Caio Collet was up next and the Brazilian highlighted how he’d like to score points in every race after a tricky couple of rounds.

“I think to score points in every race and to be back on the podium is sort of my target. Top five in qualifying and as Logan [Sargeant] says there are some tricky conditions ahead so we will have to adapt in quali and in the races. Spa is somewhat chaotic all the time during the races but to be back in the points for all three races and to achieve a podium are certainly my targets.”

Finally, Hitech Grand Prix’s Ayumu Iwasa spoke about his dissatisfaction regarding his qualifying performances and how he hopes for his luck to change in Spa.

“This weekend, I would like to make a big improvement in qualifying and especially in one lap pace. At the moment, I have been unable to improve especially beating my best result which is P8 so I am hoping to qualify top five/six and after that things will take care of themselves, but I am mainly looking to improve in qualifying.”

With the rain forecast for the weekend fluctuating between 80 and 90%, the F3 drivers will have to once again display their capabilities in wet weather and the ability to score consistent points as there are only three rounds to go in the 2021 Formula 3 season.
