Jordan Turner has got Wembley in his sights as Castleford Tigers prepare for a tough battle against Warrington Wolves

The 32-year-old joined Castleford in the off-season from the Huddersfield Giants and he’s been a revelation for the Tigers. Seven tries in eight Betfred Super League games sees him sit fifth in the Super League try-scoring charts.

His new side started the season in excellent form with four straight wins in all competitions, but in recent weeks the form has dropped with three consecutive losses against Hull Kingston Rovers, Warrington Wolves and a 60-6 defeat to Yorkshire rivals Leeds Rhinos last time out.

After falling to a heavy defeat against Leeds, the club has now put full focus on the Challenge Cup semi-final against Warrington this weekend. The Oldham-born player spoke about how the side have had to completely reset and focus on the game ahead.

“As a team, we decided to put the loss to bed and this week is a completely different focus”.

The match against the Wolves will be the third time the two sides have met this season with both sides recording a victory each. Turner insists the game this weekend is a one-off game and anything can happen.

“Everything that has come before is irrelevant, form and what has happened in previous weeks in the league goes out the window. As you saw last year, the winners were Leeds and the runners up were Salford. Two teams that didn’t do well in the League put good performances in and got to the final. The Challenge Cup is a different focus.

“It will be a tough game on Saturday. No matter when or how many times you have played a team, it is a Challenge Cup Semi-final and I expect nothing more than another really tough game. The other two games go out of the window for me, it is just about how you deal with it at the weekend and who wants to get to a Challenge Cup final more at the end of the day”.

The 32-year-old has won the Super League during his time at St Helen’s back in 2014 but the Challenge Cup trophy has evaded him so far.

“It has evaded me now for 16 years. It would mean everything to me, I have got a sentimental value for the Challenge Cup. This is only my second cup Semi-final, so it is something I would love to look back on at the end of my career and say that I had won both a Grand Final and a Challenge Cup. So, I am going to give it everything I can on Saturday to get us there”.

He will be hoping that he can win the trophy for the first time in his career and add another trophy into his cabinet.
