Fans return to the Etihad just in time to witness the Premier League trophy lift as City welcome Everton on the final day

Manchester City host Everton on the final day of the season as the Blues look to finish in style and cap off what has been a wonderful season.

As City fans return to the Etihad after a mere 15 month absence, it would seem those 10,000 fans lucky enough to be selected in the club ballot will be in for a great afternoon.

Not only are they getting to witness Sergio Aguero’s last game at the Etihad, fans will also be treated to the Premier League trophy lift as the Blues pick up their third league title in just four years under Pep Guardiola.

As City face Chelsea in their first ever Champions League Final in just seven days time, Guardiola will be hoping his players can get through this game against Everton unscathed.

With one eye on the final, Pep may be inclined to rotate his squad and protect those key men for next Saturdays showdown in Porto.

Despite the Premier league being wrapped up, the race for Europe is very much still on. Everton travel to the Etihad with an outside chance of sneaking into a Europa League place.

However it won’t be easy as they need both West Ham to lose and Spurs to drop points, whilst also somehow managing a win against already crowned champions Manchester City.

Speaking ahead of the Everton game, Guardiola has hailed Man City legend Sergio Aguero and believes the fans will give him a wonderful tribute on Sunday.

Sunday’s the last game at the Etihad, I’m sure the fans at the stadium will show our supporters all around the world by giving him a tribute for what he has done so far, – the titles, numbers, performances are incredible.

Guardiola also gave an injury update claiming that he had a fully fit squad at his disposal ahead of the visit of the Toffees.

Sergio trained yesterday and today a little bit and tomorrow we will decide. Joao (Cancelo) can’t play because he was sent off. The rest are fit.

Everton come into the game without Columbian midfielder James Rodriguez as he remains sidelined with a persistent calf problem. Club captain Seamus Coleman is also out after picking up a knock in the game against Wolves during the week.
