Pedro Neto shines in stalemate at Molineux which sees Wolverhampton Wanderers remain in 14th

Pedro Neto shined above his teammates in Wolves’ goalless draw with Midlands rival, Leicester City, the winger provided a number of chances for his teammates but not even the 20-year-old could snatch a winner for his side.

This Wolves side has suffered a number of long-term injuries therefore affecting their campaign; with the lack of a goal-scorer, Nuno Espirito Santo’s men will struggle to climb the league table.

The Portuguese winger caused the Foxes defence a number of issues early on – Neto’s sheer pace and skill aided in his battle with Leicester’s Ricardo Pereira. Meanwhile, Adama Traore was contained well by Brendan Rodgers’ tactics of shutting the Spaniard down with Leicester duo James Justin and Hamza Choudhury.

Jamie Vardy made a cameo appearance, coming on as a substitute for the Foxes. He had one golden opportunity in the dying moments of the game, in which the 34-year-old latched onto the end of Marc Albrighton’s cross, but the striker’s header saw the wrong side of the post.

Neto’s performance has the winger drumming up plenty of attention on social media after his emphatic performance for Wolves; the youngster completed half of the total take-ons in the opening 30 minutes (3/6), getting the better of fellow Portuguese player Pereira.

However for Leicester City, a point was well earned when you take into consideration the flow of the game and playing with a weaker side. Wilfried Ndidi is still away from the first-team action for the Foxes.

The all-Midlands affair was riddled with moments of beauty and some not so great. James Maddison looked to be one of the most satisfying footballers to watch, creating chances with ease and doing the simple things consistently correct.

There was nothing to separate either side in the evenly contested affair, not even wonder kid Fabio Silva, could break the deadlock after being played through on goal but slotted his effort past the wrong side of the post.

Leicester City closed the gap on Manchester United who also drew in this weekends fixture with Everton, bringing the gap to only two points.

Wolves end the week picking up a total of four points after their 2-1 win against nine-man Arsenal, as well as the foxes who beat relegation-threatened Fulham 2-0 away from home.

Rodgers’ side return to action on February 13 as they host Liverpool in an extremely important clash whilst Nuno’s men head down south to play a very down on luck Southampton on February 14.
