Leicester City aim to stretch their unbeaten run to ten games as they welcome Leeds United to the King Power Stadium

Leicester City hope to keep up their fine run of form to stay competitive in the ever-exciting Premier League title challenge when Leeds United visit the King Power Stadium this coming Sunday afternoon.  

Brendan Rodgers’ side head into the weekend third in the table, two points behind leaders Manchester City who face Sheffield United next. 

Meanwhile Leeds sit in a respectable 12th spot halfway through their first season back in the top flight after a prolonged 13 years out. They got back to winning ways last time out after two successive losses prior. They beat a struggling Newcastle United 2-1 at St James’ Park.  

The Foxes are now unbeaten in eight games following their 1-1 draw with Everton this past Wednesday night. Rodgers’ side managed to secure a draw after a Youri Tielemans equaliser in the second half and were unlucky their late pressure failed to yield all three points.  

Only the current league leaders are on a longer unbeaten run than Leicester in the Premier League as Pep Guardiola’s City have not lost in 11 games.  

The home side have won their last two games at the King Power, as many as they managed in the previous seven before this. This is something that the Leicester boss may have cracked, as four out of their five losses all came at home in the first half of the season.  

However, Leeds have also looked impressive on the road lately and Marcelo Bielsa has been sure to work on this. They’ve won two of their last three away games including a 5-0 hammering of West Brom. Brazilian winger and playmaker Raphinha has been a fantastic singing thus far for the Yorkshire outfit, particularly away from Elland Road with six goal contributions in six away starts. 

Bielsa will bring the Whites to the East Midlands with confidence he can prepare for a tough fixture. It won’t be easy for Leicester as the Foxes are without the injured Wilfred Ndidi and Jamie Vardy, Vardy scored and assisted in the reverse fixture.  

With Jonny Evans also having to come off against the Toffees midweek, this gives Rodgers the opportunity to give Caglar Soyuncu a Premier League start alongside Wesley Fofana for the first time. Evans had ‘blurred vision’ in the second half in Merseyside and with this not the first time this has happened this season, the medical staff will certainly be cautious of this ahead of Sunday.  

A centre-back pairing of Fofana and Soyuncu would definitely have fans excited. This could be something to practice for the future with Evans entering the final years of his career.  

This is the first time the two sides will meet at the King Power Stadium in the Premier League for 17 years.
