Raheem Sterling expects Liverpool to push Manchester City all the way in title race

Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling has revealed that he expects Liverpool to push his side all the way in the race for the Premier League title.

City have not tasted defeat in nine games in the Premier League, their last loss was on 29 January 2019 against Newcastle United, and as a result have reduced Liverpool’s lead at the summit of the League to produce an exhilarating end to the season.

Manchester City beat Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon to briefly occupy the top of the table, but the Blues were simply keeping the seat warm as Liverpool’s 2-0 win at home to Chelsea put Jurgen Klopp’s side back on top.

However, City continue to have the advantage in the Premier League due to having played one game less than the Merseysiders.

Despite this, though, Sterling expects an almighty challenge from his former employers as both sides battle for the Premier League title.

“Yes, 100 per cent, the way Liverpool have been playing it will go down to the wire,” he said.

“I don’t see us slowing down now. Liverpool have a great squad, great self-belief, but so do we.”

Sterling played a brief role in Liverpool’s attempts at winning the Premier League title in 2013-14 but will have his eyes on a second top-flight title with Manchester City as the 2018-19 season draws to a close.
