José Mourinho’s next job isn’t what people expected

Since being sacked by Manchester United on December 18 last year everyone has had a question: What’s next for José Mourinho? well that has now been answered by the Portuguese himself.

This new job isn’t in the dugout, in fact, it’s on television, announced in a promotional video Mourinho monologues about his career before saying he will be joining Russian TV channel RT.

The 56-year-old will be given his own show by the Russian state-funded broadcaster, the name of the production will be called ‘On the Touchline with José Mourinho’.

It will start on March 7 and will be a regular fortnightly football programme with the manager giving analysis into Champions League games.

Mourinho had connections with the Moscow-based RT network as the then United manager was working as a pundit during was year’s World Cup, which was held in the same country as the television channel.

This news does come to a surprise of many considering the Portuguese manager only made his first media engagement since being sacked last month on Bein Sports. Again he worked as a pundit for the Qatari-based broadcaster.

The RT news channel broadcasts its coverage in Arabic, English and Spanish, two out of the three languages the football manager has learnt through managing teams so he will feel right at home.

In the video used to announce their new show Mourinho said:

“After the previous stage of my career was over, everyone wondered what I was going to do next.”

“I wanted a new challenge… I’m used to surprising people.”

He ended with “I am going to talk about football on RT, what’s else did you think I was going to do.”
