Everton propose new 52,000 seat stadium

Everton have plans to build a new 52,000 seat stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock with the possibility to add a further 10,000 seats.

The proposed stadium, which is estimated to cost £500 million, will also introduce safe-standing should the plans be approved by the local and central government.

Everton’s current stadium, Goodison Park, is one of the oldest grounds in English football and is one of the most iconic venues in the north of England. It currently holds just over 39,000 fans, but due to the popularity of the club and the globalisation of the league, the club have been keen to build a new ground.

The move from Goodison to Bramley-Moore dock will not go ahead until the beginning of the 2023/24 season at the earliest, with designs for the arena and stadium expected to be made public next summer.

Everton’s stadium development director, Colin Chong, said: “At this stage, it is important to stress that this is our proposed capacity and it is what we are currently working towards.

“The final capacity and design will be subject to further engagement and consultation. We believe that our approach is the right one because it is commercially and financially sustainable and will mean that, in the long term, we will be able to increase the capacity should there be a demand and requirement to do so.”
