Argentina: Three Players to keep an eye at the 2018 World Cup

Santa Clara, CA — Argentina vs. Chile; COPA America

For me to select the best three players in La Albiceleste was not an easy task. With a squad filled with talented chaps that can display a wondrous game of football. The two time champions Argentinians (1978, 1986) and runners up (1994, 2014). These are my pick of the three most important players that for sure will deliver for Argentina in this World Cup.

With Jorge Sampaoli new challenge and to lead this squad into the promise land of this event finals, still the opposition with defending champions Germany considered as the overall favorites to win it all, the hosts Russia, Spain, Portugal, Uruguay, Brazil and maybe Mexico. The task looks tough but for these Gauchos no difficulty at all.

With no further review, here are my top three picks for the Argentinian National Team.

Lionel Messi (Forward, 30, FC Barcelona:) Messi possesses an all-around magic, despite not delivering in the clutch for his national team. Still this chap is one amazing playmaker that captures many headlines in the world of soccer or football whatever way you want to call it.

In the field with his beloved Barcelona, the man has delivered all the glories for the Blaugranas, but the question arises, will he deliver this time for Argentina. As previously stated in one of my reviews of La Albiceleste, this is a team effort but for sure, he will lead it!

As a referential with an impressive honors list, as an individual that has made an unstoppable armada of his Barcelona. For sure, this World Cup all eyes will be on him to see how far he will take his beloved Albicelete. Trophy or not, still this is the greatest player in the world, unjust will be to deny him such an honor!

Paulo Dybala (Forward, 24, Juventus FC) la Joya or ‘the jewel’ known for his style of play and his years in italys premier team Juventus known as La Vecchia Signora, after the Andean capturing many headlines all over Calcio’s Italy’s Premier League.

As this man possess speed, positioning and amazing ball skills and his best plays come in tight spaces where controls masterfully the ball. For sure, he will be with Lionel Messi and his teammate Gonzalo Higuain or Sergio Aguero in the front three in Sampaoli’s 3-5-3 formation.

As other trait this man possesses is innovation and creativity in the attack and for sure, he will deliver, wonders to his national team in the field to be a total nightmare to the opposing defenses for his trademark style of play. La Joya will shine in this world Cup!

Lucas Biglia (Midfielder, 32, AC Milan) known as El Principito or Little Prince, this little giant of Argentina midfield, considered under his manager Jorge Sampaoli as one of his top playmakers in the midfield.  After making the final cut of 23, Biglia is one serious man to take down or beat in his game known to be a bit aggressive as well intelligent. This man possesses a trait of being such an intelligent player that can easily decipher the opposing team’s movement and attacks. His vision, amazing technique and great ball control alongside of being a superb free kick, penalty and cannon of a shoot. These attributes in this player for sure he will be one to lead La Albiceleste to the coveted grand finale.

Still these three are not a national team of the likes of La Albiceleste, if I get to speak about each one of its players, believe me I call it the eleven. For Jorge Sampaoli with his trademark and suppose starting formation in his 3-5-3, at the end he can switch to a more offensive prone 4-4-2.

To conclude this is how Argentina possible lineup will look like come this World Cup.

Goalkeepers: Willy Caballero, Gabriel Mercado, Nicolas Ottamendi, Federico Fazio, Nicolas Tagliafico, Lucas Biglia, Cristian Pavon, Gio Lo Celso, Angel Di Maria, Lionel Messi, Paulo Dybala

Argentina was quick to add a second just two minutes later. This time it was a textbook team goal. Sergio Aguero found Facundo Roncaglia open on the right. He crossed it to Higuaín who’s shot forced Bolivia’s goalkeeper into a parry that fell right to Lavezzi, who slotted it home.
