Colorado Rapids 4-1 CF Montreal

COMMERCE CITY, CO–Calvin Harris and Djordje Mihailovic had a night as the Rapids romped past CF Montreal, 4-1, at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. It is the third straight win of the Rapids and they move up to fourth in the Western Conference table six points behind both Los Angeles teams and Real Salt Lake.

Harris opened the scoring in the 28th minute heading in his own rebound after an initial header of Mihailovic’s free kick was saved by Jonathan Sirois. Harris added another one just before halftime as Mihailovic sent a thru-ball to Harris to make it 2-0 to the hosts.

Montreal got one back through some fortune in the 53rd minute as Lalas Abubakar accidentally knocked in Matias Coccaro’s cross in front of goal. However, Montreal would get no closer and the Rapids would pull away late in the second half.

After VAR determined that George Campbell handled a ball in the area, Mihailovic converted the ensuing spot kick. Two minutes later, Cole Bassett laid off a ball for Rafael Navarro to put the match away and give Colorado the three points.

The Rapids now go on the road to take on LAFC next Saturday. Kickoff is at 8:30pm Mountain time on Apple TV as part of the MLS Season Pass. CF Montreal, who have won just once in their last 12, host fellow strugglers Philadelphia next Saturday with a 7:30pm Eastern time kickoff.
