Tottenham fans will be hoping the signings of Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur provide the squad with a boost ahead of their FA Cup tie with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Both players arrived at Spurs on deadline day from Juventus and should make the matchday squad on a late kick-off in north London, although Antonio Conte conceded it’s likely they’ll start from the bench.

With four players departing on deadline day from Tottenham, two fresh faces should lift the fans an added lift as they push for an FA Cup run and Champions League qualification in the Premier League.

Conte described how his squad is now more complete after Spurs’ January business and fit the mould of player that the club hope to bring in.

“I think these two players are the right prospect for Tottenham’s philosophy, young players to develop and improve. I make them important players for the future but you know very well you need time to do this.

“But I think for the philosophy of Tottenham, these are two good signings for us.”

The two teams haven’t actually faced each other in the Premier League this season, with the fixture at The Amex called off due to Covid-19 cases in the Tottenham squad.

On the last meeting between the sides in the FA Cup, a Robbie Keane winner sent Tottenham through in the third round before eventually departing to Newcastle in the quarter finals.

Graham Potter welcomes Adam Lallana and Shane Duffy back from injury concerns, whilst Yves Bissouma’s return from the Africa Cup of Nations is pleasing news for the Seagulls.

The Brighton boss also confirmed that Enock Mwepu and Jeremy Sarmiento have returned to full training but won’t currently be considered for selection whilst Alexis Mac Allister is out of the fixture due to testing positive for Covid during international duty with Argentina.

Currently sitting ninth in the Premier League and a comfortable 15 points away from the relegation zone, Potter admitted his side can head into the fixture fully focused on the task at hand.

“It helps when you have got the points you have. The knife isn’t completely to the throat, as it has been in the past. That means you can take the games on with a slightly different feeling.

“Nevertheless, you still have to compete, still have to fight, win every duel in order to get points in the Premier League.”

Spurs will be delighted to welcome Heung-Min Son back into contention for the fixture alongside Cristian Romero, who has been a long-term absentee since sustaining a hamstring injury back in early December.

Academy graduates Oliver Skipp (groin) and Japhet Tanganga (knee) are Antonio Conte’s only injury worries ahead of the fixture.
