Oscar Piastri secured the win in Formula 2’s chaotic and red-flag ridden Feature Race at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.
The Aussie was joined by Robert Shwartzman and Ralph Boschung on the rostrum as he extended his advantage at the top of the standings heading into the final round of the season.
Starting Grid
Oscar Piastri made it four successive pole positions as the Aussie lined up on the front row alongside his Prema teammate Robert Shwartzman.
ART made it a second row lockout with Theo Pourchaire in third and Christian Lundgaard in fourth UNI-Virtuosi teammates Felipe Drugovich and Guanyu Zhou were fifth and sixth with Ralph Boschung in seventh, Juri Vips in eighth, Marcus Armstrong in ninth and Liam Lawson in 10th.
Jehan Daruvala started from 11th, Dan Ticktum in 12th, Bent Viscaal in 13th, Roy Nissany in 14th and Clement Novalak in 15th after he was handed a three-place grid drop for a collision in race two. Novalak’s MP Motorsport teammate Jack Doohan was 16th with Marino Sato in 17th, Enzo Fittipaldi in 18th, Olli Caldwell in 19th, Guilherme Samaia in 20th, Logan Sargeant in 21st and Alessio Deledda in 22nd.
As It Happened
After a 40-minute delay, the formation lap got underway. Novalak experienced the worst possible fate as he stalled on the grid and was pushed to the pit lane.
From the start, Shwartzman got a fantastic launch and looked to gain the lead of the race but Piastri held onto his position into turn one.
Pourchaire failed to get off the line and had a heavy collision with Fittipaldi as the latter smashed into the back of the ART.
Both Lawson and Ticktum experienced wide moments at turn two with the red flag brought out as the two stricken cars on the grid needed to be cleared.
The race was restarted after another long delay as Piastri led the drivers over the start/finish line. Lawson and Ticktum were able to move up to ninth and 10th respectively as they overtook Daruvala.
Zhou looked to overtake Boschung for a place on the podium but the Campos driver was having none of it as he firmly held onto third place.
The red flag was out once again as Caldwell and Samaia collided with each other. This stoppage saw the stewards award Piastri the win with Shwartzman in second and Boschung in third.
Zhou, Drugovich, Vips, Lundgaard, Armstrong, Lawson and Ticktum rounded out the top 10 before the pit stops were done.

Oscar Piastri edges ever closer to a historic feat of winning back-to-back championships with the 2021 Formula 2 title in reaching distance ahead of the final round in Abu Dhabi.
