It is fair to say Leigh Centurions haven’t had the easiest start to life back in Super League losing their opening six games.
But with the return of their passionate home support, and the improved performances in recent weeks, the first win looks to be just around the corner.
Leigh saw their home fans back inside Leigh Sports Village on Monday night, as they faced local rivals the Wigan Warriors. In the opening 40 minutes, it was very clear to see the impact the fans had on the team, with the sides going in at the break level at 16-16. But the second half was dominated by Adrian Lam’s side, with Wigan coming away with the two points.
Huddersfield shocked the Halliwell Jones stadium earlier this week, as they left with a 26-20 win. Ian Watson yet again getting the better of the Warrington Wolves. They head into this afternoons game with Leigh looking for their third successive league victory. But with Leigh’s performances getting better week after week, will we see that much desired first win of the season for the Centurions?
The sides met last month in the Challenge Cup with the Giants recording a 36-18 victory. John Duffy will be hoping his side can compete better today. But he is well aware of the threat the Giants have throughout their side.
“Huddersfield have had a good run since beating us in the Challenge Cup and Ian Watson will no doubt have them well prepared for the game”.
Team News
Leigh are still without the halfback combination of Joe Mellor and Blake Wallace. But Australian Brendan Elliot is named in the squad for the first time since arriving from Manly Sea Eagles.
Huddersfield Giants have named an unchanged squad from their victory last time out.
