Group G leaders Poland look to dispatch Slovenia as they aim to continue their unbeaten run.
Poland face Slovenia at the Stozice Stadium in what seems to be another routine win for the Poland national team. Poland sit at the top of group G on 12 points after winning all their four opening games, scoring eight and conceding no goals in the process.
Team news
Poland is likely to miss both Jakub Blaszczykowski and Arkadiusz Milik due to injury. Kamil Glik and Grzegorz Krychowiak may also not play due to illness.
Slovenia are also likely to miss defensive midfielder Jaka Bijol due to a sprained ankle injury.
In a recent press conference, Poland defender Jan Bednarek spoke about Poland’s challenge of qualifying for UEFA Euro 2020:
“We all know in the team that we still have a lot of work to do. The most important thing for us is to win promotion to the European Championships and this is what we are focused on now. We are very driven and motivated.”
Slovenia manager Matjaz Kek spoke about the atmosphere being a big factor of a potential upset against Poland:
“All tickets for the game have been sold. The match will be watched by 16,000 fans from the stands. I don’t remember when the stadium was last full during a national team match. The atmosphere will definitely be amazing.
We have a lot of respect for the opponent, we will play to the maximum of our abilities and we will try to get three points. The atmosphere in the stands will give us extra energy.”

In the whole history of the two sides, Poland have won the game three times with Slovenia winning only one of the six encounters. They also drew the game three times with their last encounter in a 1-1 draw all the way back in 2016 in an international friendly with Lukasz Teodorczyk scoring for Poland and Miha Mevija scoring for Slovenia.
