Pep Guardiola was named Manager of the Season for the second year running at the League Managers Association annual awards dinner on Tuesday.

Manchester City added their second successive title after defeating Brighton 4-2 on the final day as their Spanish boss followed up the 100 points he achieved last season by collecting 98 this term with the Citizens.

Guariola saw off competition from Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino, Wolves’ Nuno Espirito Santo and Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp to win the award.

In a video message, Guardiola shared his delight at winning the award.

“It’s an honour to receive this award. I want to share it with my players because they are the artists of everything, to my staff because we fought a lot [against]all the managers in the Premier League, especially Jurgen Klopp, an incredible contender to face till the end.

It was a pleasure to play against all of them and hopefully do big, big battles again to win an incredible title.”

Guardiola has lost just twelve of his 114 Premier League matches since becoming Manchester City manager in 2013, winning 87 and drawing 15.

The two Manager of the Season awards will be added to the seven Manager of the Month awards the 48-year-old has won during his three years in England.

His City team hope to complete a domestic treble when they face Watford in the FA Cup final on Saturday after already securing the Premier League and Carabao Cup this season.
