However, a 2016 move to Werder Bremen garnered his most prolific season of his career scoring 11 in 27 matches this earned him a move to his current club.

Last season, due to competition for spaces, he was loaned out to Bundesliga side TSG 1899 Hoffenheim where he he scored 10 times in 22 games for Julian Nagelsmann’s side.

Bayern Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic gave his opinion on the new deal:

“We’re pleased we’ve secured Serge’s services over the long term. He’s taken another big step forward in his first season here, he is one of our young guns and an important part of the FC Bayern of the future.

“We’re convinced we’ll continue to benefit from his ability a lot.”

Gnabry could not hide his delight at extending his stay with the German giants:

“I’m feeling very, very much at home here. It’s great fun to play for this team. Of course I hope for many titles and great moments, and I’m looking forward to a good future with FC Bayern.”

Bayern Munich are currently second in the Bundesliga only behind rivals Borussia Dortmund on goal difference after a drop in form from the current table-toppers.

With Kingsley Coman, Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery all struggling for fitness the Stuttgart-born winger has taken full advantage, playing 29 times this season scoring eight goals and getting five assists.

The next game that the Gnabry player could feature in could be the Bavarian sides home tie against seventh placed VfL Wolfsburg.

After that they host Liverpool as they look to progress to the Quarter-Finals of the Champions League with the tie level at 0-0.
