Australian international Mooy will miss the Asia Cup in early January 2019. The Socceroos were due to play Jordan, Palestine and Syria. It will be held in the United Arab Emirates from 5 January to 1 February 2019.
A knee injury has put Huddersfield Town midfielder out of action until February and he will also miss the Terriers’ important run of December and January games. Amongst other sides, Mooy will miss key matches against Newcastle, Fulham, Burnley and Cardiff City.
The 28-year-old suffered a tear to the Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) in his right knee in Saturday’s game at Arsenal according to the club website. After consulting a specialist on Tuesday, he has been ruled out until February.
“I’m gutted to be missing an important time for club and country,” said Mooy, who has started 15 times for the Terriers in the Premier League this season.

Terriers boss David Wagner said: “The news on both Aaron and Tommy is not something we wanted, but injuries are part of football; we have to deal with it, manage it and carry on into this important December period.
“For now, this creates opportunities for others.”
