FOXBOROUGH, MA –New England Revolution (12-4-8, 40 pts.) battled to 2-1 victory over Chicago Fire FC (11-5-7, 38 pts.) on Sunday evening.
The match kicked off at 5:30 p.m. ET at Soldier Field to a crowd of 20,000.

New England opened the second half on the front foot, quickly looking to advance the ball and apply pressure in Chicago’s midfield.
Philip Zinckernagel created the first chance of the match in the 11th minute, but his right-footed effort from the center of the penalty area was denied by goalkeeper Matt Turner in the bottom-right corner.
Less than a minute later, New England produced its first opportunity as midfielder Carles Gil unleashed a left-footed shot from outside the box that narrowly missed to the left of the net.
In the 39th minute, New England broke the deadlock.

After winning possession inside his own penalty area, midfielder Jackson Yueill turned and immediately delivered a long ball into the path of Dor Turgeman. The forward raced onto the pass near midfield, beat the lone defender and calmly slotted his effort past goalkeeper Chris Brady to give New England a 1-0 lead.
In the 43rd minute, Chicago Fire defender Noah Allen was shown a yellow card for a hard foul on Peyton Miller.
Following three minutes of first-half stoppage time, New England entered the halftime break with a 1-0 advantage.

Before the start of the second half, Chicago Fire head coach Gregg Berhalter made his first substitution of the match, replacing Sam Rogers with Andrew Gutman.
Chicago emerged from the halftime break on the front foot, quickly advancing the ball and applying pressure in New England’s defensive third.
Entering the 47th minute, New England added to their lead.

Forward Dor Turgeman drove into the penalty area and delivered a low cross toward the back post, where Peyton Miller applied a simple finish to double New England’s advantage.
Less than a minute later, Miller threatened again, sending a left-footed shot from the left side of the box narrowly wide of the far post.
In the 52nd minute, Revolution defender Matt Polster was shown a yellow card for a hard foul on Puso Dithejane.
Three minutes later, Chicago Fire head coach Gregg Berhalter made a triple substitution, replacing Dithejane, Johan Gomez and Jonathan Dean with Maren Haile-Selassie, Robin Lod and Jonathan Bamba.
Less than a minute later, Chicago generated a flurry of opportunities inside the penalty area. Philip Zinckernagel had two efforts blocked, while attempts from Bamba and Haile-Selassie were also denied in quick succession.
In the 58th minute, Miller was shown a yellow card following a collision with Chicago goalkeeper Chris Brady.
In the 61st minute, Chicago pulled a goal back.

Winger Philip Zinckernagel played the ball into Robin Lod, who laid it off for Maren Haile-Selassie to slot a low finish into the bottom-left corner and cut Chicago’s deficit to 2-1.
In the 69th minute, Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović made his first two substitutions of the match, replacing Jackson Yueill and Dániel Gazdag with Joshua Wynder and Griffin Yow.
Andrew Gutman created Chicago’s next opportunity in the 71st minute, but his headed effort sailed narrowly over the crossbar.
Lod threatened again in the 78th minute, directing a left-footed shot toward the center of the goal that was saved by Matt Turner.
In the 81st minute, Mitrović made his third substitution of the match, replacing Dor Turgeman with Ilay Feingold.

Three minutes later, Chicago midfielder Sergio Oregel was shown a yellow card for a hard foul on Carles Gil.
In the 88th minute, Mitrović used his final two substitutions, replacing Gil and Peyton Miller with Wilson Harris and Cody Baker.
Robert Lewandowski nearly equalized in the 89th minute, but Turner produced a spectacular diving save to deny his headed effort near the bottom corner.
Chicago continued applying pressure in the second minute of stoppage time, with efforts from Haile-Selassie, Dje D’Avilla and Jack Elliott each deflected behind for corner kicks.
Lewandowski produced the final opportunity of the match in the fifth minute of stoppage time, sending his header narrowly wide of the left post.
Following five minutes of second-half stoppage time, the final whistle sounded as New England held on for a 2-1 victory.
